(Metro Creative Graphics/File Photo) For the first time in over a year, a health department is encouraging a vaccination unrelated to the current pandemic. The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services announced last week that the first case of a dog contracting rabies in 10 years was confirmed last week, prompting a reminder to pet owners about rabies vaccination. The case emerged in a six-month-old dog in Detroit and is the first such diagnosis since 2011 with a dog in Oakland County.
