BOSTON – After the Blue Hills deer hunt banned shotguns this past year, Rep. William Driscoll, D-Quincy, has filed a new bill designed to end the hunt altogether.
“[The shotgun ban] was a result of advocacy from myself and others to try and get the guns removed.” Driscoll said. “We’re pleased that had occurred and still would like to see a further reduction of the hunt in general.”
According to the Massachusetts Department of Conservation and Recreation website, the decision to ban shotguns during last year’s event was due to COVID-19 and to maintain social distancing.
Massachusetts hunters are allowed to apply for an opportunity to participate in marked off areas of the Blue Hills during 11 specific days in November.
