Twenty-three artists will open their studios during the 33rd annual Artist’s Studio Tour Saturday, June 1 and Sunday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Many of the studios also include guest artists, meaning the tour actually includes 66 island artists. The Journal connected with four of these guest artists, each long time islanders: Amanda Azous at Kristen Reitz-Green’s studio, Daniel Finn at Susan Williams Roseblade’s studio, Jim Nollman at Gretchen Allison’s studio and Lynn Mercer at Mary Gey McCulloch’s studio.

The January 10th issue of the Journal included an excellent letter of opinion submitted by Mark Fishaut, titled “Moving forward with the Land Bank.” Mark noted the Town to Zylstra Lake Trail fiasco as reason for review of the entire LB operation. Dr Fishaut’s mysteriously uninformed letter demands a response. Whaaat Dr Fishaut? The Zylstra Lake Trail is the hoped-for baby of our County Manager who, also hopefully, will be soon on his way to other pastures to impact. The Conservation Land Bank did not promote or pursue the Zylstra Lake Trail Project. Please check your facts before proselytizing, especially about issues heartfelt in our small community.
