HANNIBAL — Amid a global shortage of sunflower oil sits a farm in Hannibal budding with sunflower oil cold-pressed by hand from 20 acres of their own fields.
Winter isn’t quite over but thanks to a local sunflower farm, area residents can now bring a hint of summer into their kitchens.
The Brown family in front of their almost 10 acre sunflower patch, located on State Highway HH outside of Hannibal, which they will be opening up to the public this Saturday. They will also be using these sunflowers to press their own sunflower oil when the flowers are ready, which they believe will be November.
