Teenage fight ends in court hearing

A TEENAGER who denied hurting another youngster in a fight last week was yesterday granted $3,500 bail ahead of his trial.
The 15-year-old appeared before Magistrate Ambrose Armbrister after he was accused of causing harm to another teenager on Wilton Street on December 10.
During the arraignment he pleaded not guilty to one count of causing harm and the matter was adjourned to December 29 to be heard before the juvenile court.
In the meantime, the accused was granted $3,500 bail.
Yesterday, another juvenile appeared before Magistrate Armbrister after he was accused of acting in a disorderly manner, using obscene language and resisting lawful arrest earlier this month.

A 26-year-old woman who used obscene language and resisted arrest was yesterday ordered to complete 40 hours of community service.
Police arrested Leashja Grant after she was shouting profanities and acting in a disorderly manner on December 14.
The prosecution said the accused also resisted arrest when officers tried to detain her that day.
Grant admitted to all of the offences during a hearing before Magistrate Ambrose Armbrister.
The court was told that officers, acting on information, went to the residence of a woman who had made a complaint. While there, they saw Grant behaving in a disorderly manner as she screamed and shouted obscenities.

'Pay back ex-girlfriend for smashed windows'

A 25-year-old man who broke the windows of his ex-girlfriend’s car during an altercation was yesterday ordered to compensate her for her damaged property.
Police arrested Zamar Curtis after he caused $1,130 worth of damage to the mother of his unborn baby’s Nissan Note on December 13.
He pleaded guilty to one count of damage before Magistrate Ambrose Armbrister yesterday.
The court was told Curtis and the complainant got into an argument around 11.30pm. The prosecution said the defendant and his neighbours began throwing rocks at his ex-girlfriend’s vehicle which caused her front windshield and one of her driver and passenger windows to shatter.

Man 'attacked woman with cutlass'

AN ELEUTHERA man who was accused of assaulting a woman with a cutlass was yesterday granted bail ahead of his trial.
Keith Coakley appeared before Magistrate Ambrose Armbrister after he was accused of threatening to kill and assaulting a woman with a cutlass in Harbour Island on December 13.
The prosecution also alleged the accused threatened to harm a man sometime in October and breached the curfew on August 8.
During the hearing, Coakley denied all of the allegations and the matter was adjourned to January 20 to be heard before a circuit Magistrate in Harbour Island.
In the meantime, Coakley was granted $3,500 bail.

AN ACCOUNTS manager accused of stealing nearly $200,000 from her place of employment was yesterday granted $9,900 bail ahead of her trial.
Tabitha Wells, 39, was accused of defrauding John Watling’s Distillery of $198,112.35 between February and August of this year.
Yesterday, she appeared before Magistrate Ambrose Armbrister charged with 12 counts of stealing by reason of employment, two counts of falsification of accounts and a single charge of acquiring the proceeds of crime.
It is alleged Wells stole the funds from the company’s Royal Bank of Canada and Commonwealth Bank corporate accounts.
The prosecution said the defendant stole $57,185.07 from the distillery’s RBC account sometime between February 4 and 29. They also said she stole $10,090.40 from the company’s Commonwealth Bank account between May 10 and 27. Wells was further accused of making false entries into the distillery’s accounting software on two different occasions.
