The Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria said it has filed a notice of appeal at the Court of Appeal, Abuja judicial division, following Justice Okon Abang’s ruling of Tuesday, February 22, 2021, which was unsatisfactory to it.
In a statement on Wednesday titled ‘N69.4bn debt case between AMCON & Jimoh Ibrahim heads to court of appeal’, it said this was in a bid to recover a debt of nearly N70bn owed it by businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim.

Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON).
Residents and landlords of Victory Park Estate, Lekki, Lagos have accused the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria (AMCON) of harassment over their properties, despite pending court cases and orders.
Two of such pending cases were filed by Mrs B.E. Ibude and Mr Okechukwu Okoli, alongside his wife against AMCON and its receiver-manager, Mr Lanre Olaoluwa.
The plaintiffs obtained injunctions against the respondents, but AMCON appealed the decisions. The estate spans almost 50 hectares and is one of the gated communities in the Igbokushu area of Lekki Peninsula Scheme 1.
The residents are accusing AMCON and its receiver-manager of outright disregard for law and order and illegal use of official powers. ....

The Federal High Court in Lagos, on Tuesday, declined an application by a businessman, Jimoh Ibrahim, seeking to reclaim his properties seized by the Asset Management Corporation of Nigeria over an alleged indebtedness of N69.4bn.
AMCON had on November 4, 2020, obtained an interim order to seize about 12 properties from Ibrahim and his firms, Nicon Investment Limited and Global Fleet Oil and Gas Limited, in a bid to recover an alleged N69.4bn debt.
But Ibrahim and the firms have gone back to court with an application seeking to set aside the seizure order and recover the properties. ....
