A former Hochelaga-Maisonneuve resident who sexually abused three boys in his care while also producing child pornography was sentenced Friday to an overall five-year prison term and declared a long-term offender.
“If I were a judge, you would stay in prison the rest of your life,” an 11-year-old boy wrote in a letter to Maxim Grondin, 42, the man who sexually abused him during a period that stretched between 2017 and 2018, before Grondin and accomplice Caroline Curadeau abruptly moved to Trois-Rivières as the children’s parents became suspicious.

Ex-Quebec TV host Eric Salvail not guilty on three sex-related charges

MONTREAL - Eric Salvail, who used to host some of Quebec's most popular television shows such as Star Academie, was found not guilty in a Montreal courtroom Friday on three sex-related charges.
Quebec court Judge Alexandre Dalmau acquitted the former star of sexual assault, harassment and unlawful confinement in connection with events alleged to have occurred in 1993, involving former co-worker Donald Duguay.
Duguay, who agreed to be identified publicly, testified during the trial that Salvail confined him in a bathroom at the Radio-Canada building in Montreal and assaulted him after months of unwanted advances and harassment.
The decision hinged on the credibility of the complainant and the defendant.

Former TV and radio host Eric Salvail acquitted in sexual assault trial

MONTREAL --
Former radio and television host Eric Salvail was acquitted Friday afternoon on charges of sexual assault, forcible confinement and harassment of a one-time colleague at Radio-Canada.
Quebec Superior Court Justice Alexandre Dalmau rendered his verdict at the Montreal courthouse, saying the case came down to the credibility of the accused and the plaintiff.
He said the accusations were credible, but not beyond a reasonable doubt, as there were some inconsistencies.
Salvail, now 51, was accused of assaulting Donald Duguay in 1993.
The latter testified at the criminal trial that Salvail kidnapped and sexually assaulted him in a Radio-Canada bathroom, after several months of advances, sexual comments and inappropriate touching in the workplace.
