(Amherst)- The Amherst Sheriff's Office says a group of Virginia elementary school students sought medical attention after eating gummy bears from a bag that contained residue that tested positive for fentanyl. Seven students at Central Elementary School experienced a reaction after eating the gummy bears at school. School administrators notified the children's families and five of the seven students sought medical treatment. ....

(WDBJ/US Attorney’s Office Release) - A federal grand jury has indicted five people, three from Lynchburg, for conspiring to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana. The activity is alleged to have taken place from January 2016 to January 2021. The grand jury returned a 14-count indictment charging Jeremel Storey, Donnell Miller, Maggie Smith, Ricky Abner, and Charay Trent each with conspiracy to distribute and possess with the intent to distribute cocaine and marijuana. According to allegations in the indictment, Storey was involved in distributing more than five kilograms of cocaine and Miller, Smith, and Abner were involved in distributing more than 500 grams of cocaine. ....
