Survey Asks: Should Employers Pay for Work-From-Home Ergo Expenses?

New York, NY Nearly three-quarters of remote workers say their employer should provide a general work-from-home stipend to help make their home workspaces more ergonomically correct, results of a recent survey show.
With spare bedrooms, kitchen tables and dining rooms now home offices during the COVID-19 pandemic, workers are looking to make their new work arrangements more healthy and comfortable. Proper ergonomics, according to OSHA, can lessen muscle fatigue, increase productivity, and reduce the number and severity of musculoskeletal disorders in the workplace.
Researchers from the human resources technology company Namely conducted an online survey of remote workers to find out if employers are subsidizing the basics of working from home. Eleven percent of respondents said “ergonomic support was imperative,” according to a press release. ....

NORWICH In the early evening, after the construction crews working on Interstate 91 went home for the day, the horseback riders would arrive.
The hard-packed dirt that would lay the path of the highway in the 1960s gave Dianne Dunn and other riders room to gallop.
“It was a place where we knew we could really run, so we did,” said Marilyn Mason, a friend of Dunn’s, who died at 88 on Nov. 30, 2020. “We were always up for adventure.” ....
