A bill that would partially shield the maker of a widely used agricultural and lawn herbicide from lawsuits over its health effects was adopted by the Iowa Senate on Tuesday.
"It was a total shock and surprise, and it's a huge honor," Iowa Sen. Dan Dawson said. "It's a bipartisan award — it goes to Republican and Democrats."
The state of Iowa missed a deadline for publishing a key report on its finances because Iowa State University was unable to provide the data on time.
