Congress, the soldiers pay is actually much high or than those of their civilian counterparts. well, i don t know of any civilian analog to a soldier humping 120-pound rug sack in the hindu curb while being shot at. it s not appropriate, i think, to measure what a civilian counterpart makes during a time of war. jon: yeah, and being a deployed soldier is not a 40-hour workweek either with all kinds of benefits. go ahead, general. the point i m going to make is what this effects is not the young private, it really e effects the middle managers, the sergeants and the captains, those who have had three or four tours in iraq and afghanistan. under a lot of pressure from their families, their spouses, their children. something like this sends a bad signal to them, and it may very well be the one thing that will discourage the families not the soldiers, but the families and keeping them from perhaps ....
