Mixed response to the statewide shutdown called in Andhra Pradesh by TDP

The shutdown called by TDP in Andhra Pradesh to protest the arrest of party president N Chandrababu Naidu received a mixed response. Government offices, banks, and educational institutions functioned as usual, while private educational institutions declared a holiday in some districts. TDP workers forced the shutdown of shops in some places, but the police intervened and made the shops open. The situation was reported to be peaceful, with no untoward incidents. APSRTC move to meet parcel target through employees

In a move aimed at meeting revenue target from its cargo service, the state-owned Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has mandated its employees to ensure booking of three parcels or couriers by their relatives or friends every month.

Amaravati, Feb 4 : The Andhra Pradesh State Road Transport Corporation (APSRTC) has teamed up with the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) to make available up to 1,000 ‘darshanam’ (deity visit) tickets to devotees reaching the famous temple on its buses for convenience.
“Along with the fare, people who reach Tirupati on APSRTC buses can pay an additional Rs 300 in the bus itself and buy the darshanam tickets,” APSRTC vice-chairman and managing director R.P. Thakur said on Thursday.
Thakur said darshanam via this arrangement will be available two times a day, at 11 a.m. and at 4 p.m., and once the devotees reach the Tirumala bus station, they will be helped by the road transport corporation’s supervisors.
