Ndakasi, the star of a viral selfie in 2019 captured by a park ranger, has died at 14 years old in the arms of the caretaker that rescued her when she was only two months old and clinging to her mother's dead body. The mountain gorilla spent 11 years in the Virunga National Park before succumbing to deteriorating health.
"It was a privilege to support and care for such a loving creature," her caretaker said, adding that her sweet nature helped him "to understand the connection between humans and great apes"
