As cleanup continues along a major Belleville road, it marks the beginning of a longer road ahead for some shop owners left to clean up the mess that a water main break left behind.
Andria Powell has owned Circa Boutique and Gift on East Main Street in downtown Belleville for 19 years. Monday morning an employee called her saying it looked like the floodgates opened outside.
Portions of East Main Street from High Street through Charles Street are closed due to the main break in Belleville, Illinois.
“We may have naysayers, but you know when I started Art on the Square, people told me it would never happen in Belleville,” the mayor said.
