Manu Feildel, Brynne Edelsten, Sam Burgess join SAS Australia
April 20, 2021 10:07
SAS Australia is set to return to Seven later this year, and the network has named 18 celebrities who’ll take part in the gruelling challenges this season.
A smattering of former sports stars will be joined by actors, media personalities, a Bra Boy, musicians, and a former politician, with the series to be produced by Screentime, a Banijay Group company.
Leading the names are former NRL and rugby player Sam Burgess, ex-tennis star Mark Philippoussis, and dual Olympian Jana Pittman, plus Ironman Jett Kenny, Olympian John Steffensen and AFL player Heath Shaw, among others whose former sporting prowess should leave them in relatively good stead for the challenge.

A large tarmac area with a stage was also visible - a place where lead trainer Ant Middleton has been known to torment recruits in the past.
There are a few more buildings further down - perhaps for the cast or crew to stay in - and fully functioning portaloos on site.
The location is set amid an abundance of trees and rolling mountains, meaning it would be hard for a member of the public to simply stumble across.
Team work: After the 18 new recruits were announced on Monday, it appears Channel Seven have chosen a whole new - and much warmer - location for their celebrities to film at this season. Pictured, left to right, DS Billy Billingham, Jason Fox, Matthew Ollerton and Ant Middleton

New cast: The network released the full line-up for the military-style competition on Monday, and it features a mixture of famous and controversial participants. Pictured Sam Burgess

SHE’S known for being one of the cheeriest women on telly – but veteran host Carol Smillie is anything but happy after being snubbed by those behind the Changing Rooms reboot.
Carol presented the decorating show for seven years when it was on the BBC between 1996 and 2003.

Ray Mears: 'It's a difficult time to be a white middle-aged man on TV'

Ray Mears is propped up against the trunk of a tree, drinking a billycan of instant coffee.
We’re taking a pause in our slow trek in Ashdown Forest, a wood close to Mears’s home and his heart. He knows it intimately. Although as a result of lockdown there are more boot tracks than usual, not just here, but everywhere in Britain, he laughs.
“I find footprints in places there should not be footprints, but that’s nice in a way,” he adds gently.
Not a coffee drinker, I’m warming my hands on a tea made from birch polypore, a bracket fungus Mears poked off the top of a birch tree using a dead branch earlier, shortly after he’d tapped a neighbouring birch for its sap and I glugged it down like an elixir.
