San Diego jail inmate died of pulmonary embolism, Sheriff's Department says
SAN DIEGO — A 43-year-old San Diego County inmate who died in October after collapsing in a jail recreation yard died of a medical issue brought on by natural causes, authorities reported Tuesday. Anthony Chon collapsed around 7 a.m. on Oct. 16 in a recreation yard at the downtown San Diego Central Jail and died a short time later at a hospital, according to sheriff’s officials. Chon is also identified as Anthony Chom in court records. His death, along with those of several other inmates within a span of a few weeks, was first reported last month by The San Diego Union-Tribune.
