Anton Klaus

12/30/2010: It was this day in 1829 that the “Father of Jamestown,” Anton Klaus, was born in Brutting Prussia. Like many other Germans of his era, Klaus saw great opportunity across the Atlantic and so set sail for America, arriving in Green Bay, Wisconsin, November 1849.

Jamestown History To Be Engraved in Paved Project

JAMESTOWN, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Historical figures of Jamestown will be recognized in the road diet project come spring.
During the recent Jamestown Public Works Committee meeting, a “Walk of Fame” of Jamestown’s most notable figures was discussed.
Tourism Executive Director Searle Swedlund says the cost for material and installation are all included in the road diet budget, meaning there will be no cost to the city of Jamestown.
Some mentionable names included in the paved project include Louis L’Amour, Anne Carlsen, Anton Klaus, Elizabeth White, Alfred Dickey and more.
Swedlund explained there was a consensus to only posthumous figures.
