So Taylor Heinicke is getting his second career NFL start when Washington hosts Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in the wild card playoff Saturday night. Heinicke's only other start came on Dec. 23, 2018, when he was with Carolina and the Panthers lost to Atlanta 24-10. Heinicke was 33 of 53 for 274 yards with one touchdown and three interceptions that day. ORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) — Colts coach Frank Reich couldn’t manufacture another comeback in Buffalo. Back in Bills Stadium for the playoffs some 28 years after the former backup quarterback rallied Buffalo to overcome the largest deficit in NFL history, Reich could only watch as Indianapolis fell short in a 27-24 wild-card playoff loss on Saturday.
METAIRIE, La. (AP) — The New Orleans Saints have ruled out sack leader Trey Hendrickson and offensive guard Nick Easton for Sunday’s playoff game against Chicago. Hendrickson had career-high 13 ½ sacks this season, which tied for second in the NFL. But he missed practice late this week because of a nagging neck injury that also sidelined him from New Orleans’ penultimate regular season game.
HOUSTON (AP) — Nick Caserio's introductory news conference as the Houston Texans' general manager was dominated by questions about whether Deshaun Watson wants out. Caserio, a longtime executive with the New England Patriots, was hired on Thursday to replace Bill O’Brien, who served as both coach and general manager until he was fired after this season’s 0-4 start.
