Movement ban lifted in Oman, rules for commercial activities revised

Movement ban lifted in Oman, rules for commercial activities revised
By: Times News Service
In the wake of these new measures, the Royal Oman Police has asked people in the country to continue to follow protocols related to stopping the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Muscat: People began moving around at night from yesterday, after the Supreme Committee eased restrictions to stop the spread of COVID-19.
All commercial activities in the country resumed operations, at 50 per cent customer capacity. However, customers can only enter their premises until 8 pm.
Shops selling foodstuff are exempt from this rule, while delivery and takeaway services are also allowed. However, gyms, sports clubs, and pitch rental facilities (locally known as tartan) will continue to remain shut until further notice.

The national government on Thursday allowed dine-in operations at restaurants at 10% capacity, while barbershops and parlors can operate at 30% capacity in modified enhanced community  (MECQ) areas.
In a statement, Palace spokesman Harry Roque said the government task force approved the recommendation to allow "restaurants, eateries, commissaries, and other food preparation establishments to resume their indoor dine-in services in areas under Modified Enhanced Community Quarantine (MECQ) at an initial 10% venue or seating capacity."
However, Roque said food establishments may operate beyond 10% as long as they comply with the Safety Seal Certification Program, which will ensure that an establishment is strictly following health protocols as well as customer's safety.

After salons refuse service to Dalits, brothers step up and offer haircuts at doorsteps in Karnataka

Express News Service
MYSURU: Two brothers of a Dalit family have turned ambassadors of social harmony in Mysuru villages. They have not only put an end to social tension but have also given dignity to members of their community in Kappasoge and neighbouring villages.
As Dalits were finding it difficult to get a haircut at barbershops in the villages, KP Mahadeva and his brother KP Siddaraju started offering services at the doorstep of community memebrs in Kappasoge, Kuruhundi, Gowdarahundi and Madanahalli which have a sizeable dalit population.
Many times, Dalits of all age groups had to visit Ullahalli or Nanjangud town for a haircut after being barred from availing services from barbershops in their village. Besides spending extra money on travel, they even had to spare a day for the odd job.
