Tax deadline extension in Arizona could help nonprofits

Tax deadline extension in Arizona could help nonprofits
Arizona tax deadline extension is good news for nonprofits
One financial expert says with the tax deadline extension, nonprofits now have more time to get people's tax-deductible donations before the tax season ends.
PHOENIX - The Federal tax deadline has been extended due to the ongoing pandemic, and on April 5, Arizona followed suit, matching the federal deadline of May 17.
The decision by Arizona state officials to extend the tax deadline could help make up for a loss of much-needed donations for local nonprofits. There is a charitable tax donation mechanism in Arizona, meaning if a taxpayer donates to qualified organizations, they basically get their money back. Now, with an extra month to make such donations, many nonprofits are hoping more people will donate.

JFCS' event raised $330,000 | Community

On Jan. 29, 2021, Jewish Family & Children’s Service hosted its annual Brighter Tomorrow event virtually. The event was free and highlighted the organization’s many programs and services, with a particular focus on its response to the coronavirus pandemic.
The signature event, chaired by Lynn and Larry Kahn, raised $330,000. That money will be used on services and support for more than 40,000 people throughout Maricopa County.
Robert Sarver, owner of the Phoenix Suns and executive chairman of Western Alliance Bancorporation, was the featured keynote speaker. Sarver, a philanthropist who supports Arizona’s local community, spoke about his family’s personal connection to JFCS services following the death of his brother at a young age. In addition, Sarver spoke about the importance of access to programs, including primary medical care, counseling, behavioral health, domestic violence victim assistance and Jewish community services through JFCS.

TUCSON, Ariz. (KOLD News 13) - Although the community has been generous in the support of the work of nonprofits, many organizations are going into their second event season where they might be unable to hold fundraising events. Tax credit is a great way to help your community while also helping yourself.
The Arizona Charitable Tax Credit Coalition is a group of organizations who joined forces to promote available tax credits. The state of Arizona offers several individual tax credits, namely the Arizona Charitable Tax Credit, and they help people donate to charities and qualifying organizations. These tax credits open the opportunity for taxpayers in the state to get dollar-for-dollar reductions to their tax liabilities. In other words, the money you give reduces what you owe on your state taxes for each dollar up to the allowable limits.

Allocate to Elevate never on backburner for one team

Chris Arnold is a numbers guy.
But this number may be the one that he is the most proud of: His team is always the first to reach 90% participation in workplace giving program Allocate to Elevate, in which Grand Canyon University and Grand Canyon Education employees divert their state tax dollars to Habitat for Humanity, public school extracurricular programs or School Choice Arizona.
“One of my favorite things about the launch of the Allocate to Elevate program each October is to see which team is the first to hit 90% to 100% participation. Every year, without fail, it is Chris Arnold’s team,” said
