Special to the Chronicle View Comments Capital City Democratic Women’s Club inducted Mother Sarah Purdee Spires age 111 and 61 other new members into the Democratic Women’s Club this week. This event took place on Sunday July 11, 2021, at Franklin Academy Inc., located at 2303 Old Bainbridge Road, Tallahassee. Spires lives in Jackson County and has been voting every year for 56 years. Spires father, Armstrong Purdee, was the first African American attorney in Marianna. He was born in 1856 as a slave.
