FORT STEWART, Ga.– In order for the United States Army to remain an effective world-class fighting force, individual and unit equipment must be ready for combat. To ensure this, the Army is transitioning to the Regionally Aligned Readiness and Modernization Model, designed to align divisions across the Army with specific theaters of operations in order to support various missions.
However, after 20 years of fighting in the Middle East, many units have accumulated an excess of equipment that they can no longer use because it is outdated or broken.
“Units have a ton of stuff sitting in motor pools and storage facilities that are taking up space,” said Maj. Aaron Holker, support operations officer, 406th Army Field Support Battalion. ....

Mannheim APS-2 site receives next-generation Paladin M109A7 155mm Artillery System – Soldier of Fortune Magazine


 
The M109A6 Paladin 155 mm along with the M992A2 Field Artillery Ammunition Supply Vehicle (FAASV) provides the primary indirect-fire support to Armored Brigade Combat Teams (ABCT), Infantry Brigade Combat Teams and Stryker Brigade Combat Teams. Like the earlier M109 models, the M109A6 Paladin is a fully tracked, armored vehicle. The M109A6 Paladin configuration was achieved through modifications to earlier-built M109A2 and A3 vehicle hulls and the introduction of an entirely new cab and cannon assembly.

MANNHEIM, Germany – If he’s not riding his Harley Davidson across Europe with his wife, you’ll find him at Coleman Barracks supervising one of the largest Army Prepositioned Stock sites in the world.
Thomas Esposito is the director of Coleman worksite, Army Field Support Battalion-Mannheim, 405th Army Field Support Brigade. As the director, Esposito supervises about 15 government civilian employees assigned to AFSBn-Mannheim and oversees the operations and mission of an additional 800 contractors.
Their job? – the storage, security, maintenance and issue of more than 500 armored vehicles and associated equipment pieces – enough to fully outfit an entire Armored Brigade Combat Team when called upon. ....

DVIDS - News - 402nd improves the lives of Soldiers in Alaska throughout 2020

Fort Wainwright, ALASKA Soldiers and families experienced a boost in the quality of life initiatives offered throughout the Army footprint in Alaska in 2020. While improvements have been made, the work remains ongoing.
“Even though we made significant improvements to the training, dining and transportation needs of Soldiers here in Alaska, we are still engaged and working closely with the garrison to ensure their needs continue to be met,” said Lt. Col. L. Pily Restrepo, commander of the 402nd Army Field Support Battalion-Alaska.
The changes are a result of a cross-functional Quality of Life Task Force led by the Army Material Command in direct response to an epidemiological consultation, also known as an EPICON, and recommendations from a USARAK Suicide Prevention Task Force after five suicide deaths between May 2018 and April 2019. ....
