The Nagaland assembly has passed a resolution stating that the Forest (Conservation) Amendment Act, 2023 will only apply if Article 371A guarantees are adhered to. Article 371A grants special provisions to Nagaland, protecting social practices, land ownership, and more. This comes after Mizoram also passed a resolution opposing the law. States in the northeast oppose the law as it exempts certain projects from environmental clearances.
