Congestion comparison for German cities: Where drivers make remarkably poor progress – and where particularly well
TomTom looked at 27 German cities and regions for its Traffic Index. In 13 cities, car traffic flowed slower on average per day in 2023 than last year. In ten cities there was no change, in only four cities were people moving faster. Hamburg continues to be the German city with the lowest average speed. In an international comparison, it was almost a quarter of an hour more with an average of 37 minutes and 20 seconds in London. The data can be used to steer traffic flows more efficiently, for example via intelligent traffic lights or variable speed limits.
