delhi: Bill to replace Delhi services ordinance to be taken up in Lok Sabha next week

The Government of National Capital Territory of Delhi (Amendment) Bill, meant to replace the ordinance for the creation of an authority for transfers and postings of Group-A officers in Delhi, will be tabled in the Lok Sabha next week, according to Union Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal. The move will also accommodate several notices from opposition leaders, including Congress Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury and DMK s A Raja, opposing the ordinance. The controversial ordinance was introduced by the Centre on May 19, a week after the Supreme Court handed over control of Delhi s services, except for police, public order and land, to the elected government. ....
