ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Planning, Development and Special Initiatives Asad Umar has said that the biggest challenge for the government was fixing the cash bleeding energy sector and the government had finalised a roadmap for bringing reforms.
“The whole electricity sector from generation to transmission and distribution has been strangulated by the Government of Pakistan and the main reforms are doing away from clutches of GoP and to introduce market driven private sector-owned reforms,” Federal Minister Asad Umar said while addressing the 13th All Pakistan Chambers President Conference (APCPC), organized by the Rawalpindi Chambers of Commerce and Industries (RCCI) in collaboration with the Jang Media Group here on Thursday. ....

ISLAMABAD: The Defence Ministry has described the country s former spy chief, Lt. General (R) Asad Durrani, as affiliated to or interacting with “ hostile intelligence elements, including the Indian intelligence agency RAW”, in a damning reply submitted before the Islamabad High Court (IHC).
“The petitioner [General Durrani] is affiliated/interacting with hostile elements, specially Indian RAW, since 2008. During an interview before respondents [the ministries of defence, interior and the State of Pakistan] the petitioner rendered an affidavit committing to refrain from such activities which is still not seen in tangible terms,” were the exact words of the reply of the ministries of defence and interior submitted before the IHC last week. ISLAMABAD: National Command and Operation Center (NCOC) has made an integrated plan for vaccination of COVID-19 patients.
This plan has been compiled by federal government in consultation with all stakeholders and provinces.
The vaccination strategy plan has been compiled keeping in view the best international practices and health guidelines. According to the details shared by NCOC on Wednesday, the aim of this vaccination strategy is to vaccinate the people under a system and according to health safety principles within a healthy environment.
Meanwhile, Federal Minister for Planning, Development, Reforms and Special Initiatives Asad Umar said that the vaccination will start from next week. ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Ambassador to Afghanistan Mansoor Ahmad Khan called on Speaker National Assembly Asad Qaiser in Parliament House here on Thursday.
According to a press release of the National Assembly Secretariat enhancing parliamentary and bilateral relations between Islamabad and Kabul came under discussion.
The Speaker while talking to the Ambassador said that Pakistan and Afghanistan both were intertwined in religious, cultural and historic bonds and shared common destiny. He said that Parliament had taken the lead proposed various changes in the trade and visa policy for Afghanistan.
