A Galesburg man facing murder charges for the shooting on Grand Avenue this summer pleaded not guilty on Monday afternoon in Knox County Court. 33-year-old Asheem Afutu faces charges of murder and aggravated discharge of a firearm in connection with the killing of Gregory D. Tucker in a Grand Ave. parking lot on July 24th, 2022. Afutu is being represented by Public Defender Chris Kantak. He was extradited from Florida after being on the run for about 3 months. Galesburg, Ill- A man accused of murder made his first court appearance in Galesburg Friday, October 21st, following his arrest in Florida and extradition back to Illinois. According to Knox County States Attorney Jeremy Karlin, Asheem Afutu made his initial court appearance on Friday, on charges of Murder and Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm. The charges stem from the July 24th shooting death of Gregory Tucker on Grande Avenue in Galesburg.
