Looking at their list of accomplishments, it may be hard to believe that Ashley Choponis and Kyah Hoffman are only sophomores. The Central Montcalm distance duo added to their collection of All-State medals on Saturday as both finished in the top eight at the Division 3 state track finals at Kent City High School.
Stuart Gould is going to get his wish in one of his final track events at Tri County. The Vikings’ standout senior sprinter wanted to bring teammates with him to the MHSAA state track finals before the season began. He had big dreams to bring more than one person wearing Tri County running gear to Forest Hills Eastern’s Hawk Stadium for the Division 2 finals.
From the inception of the JV girls division by the Michigan High School Powerlifting Association (MHSPLA) in 2018, Central Montcalm has been a powerhouse. The Green Hornets girls JV team won the first three MHSPLA state championships in 2018, 2019 and 2020. The Hornets did not participate in the 2021 tournament due to COVID-19 and finished second in the 2022 tournament.
