“To label public-spirited citizens as an ‘anti-India gang’ and threaten them with action which will exact ‘a price’ rings sharply of authoritarianism, particularly in the absence of any attempt to dialogue or engage,” the Constitutional Conduct Group said in a letter.
"By her incendiary hate speech and her repeated acts of propagating hate, she has forfeited the ethical right to be a Member of Parliament," the Constitutional Conduct Group said in an open letter.
In a letter to the attorney general, the Constitutional Conduct Group said it is deeply disturbing to see the "patently discriminatory treatment" meted out to Nupur Sharma and Mohammed Zubair.
The problem is no longer just ‘excesses’ of the police and the administration at the local level but that rule of law and due process are "being turned upside down", said the Constitutional Conduct Group.
Members of the Constitutional Conduct Group said the "frenzy of hate filled destruction" that the country is witnessing is not just targeting minorities, but the constitution itself.
