When I started writing this I, like many of you, could not even begin to imagine how the world ended up where it currently is. The Angelo State women’s soccer team completed an undefeated season, which culminated with a close 1-0 victory over the Dallas Baptist Patriots in the Lone Star Conference Spring Championship.
Despite their perfect record, the Belles were considered the underdog, as DBU came into this game as the No. 1 ranked team and opened the game showing why they are ranked so high. In the first twenty minutes of the game, DBU consistently made attacking moves into the Belles final third, but were unable to make any meaningful attempts at goal. The game would remain in a tense deadlock until the 61st minute, when goalkeeper Kira Miller got called into action and made a great save. Angelo State University held a COVID-19 vaccine clinic on April 8 and 9 in the C.J. Davidson Conference Center, which is located in the Houston Harte University Center. The clinic was open to all ASU students, faculty and staff. Participants had to show a form of state or government ID, such as their driver’s license or a government-issued ID to receive their vaccine. According to the Director of Risk and Emergency Management, Sam Spooner, the clinic was meant to encourage more students, faculty and staff to get ASU’s vaccination reports up. ....
New Curative kiosk helps keep the ASU community safe ASU on Jan. 25 partnered with biotech company Curative to provide free COVID-19 testing via a supervised kiosk at the ASU Pavilion to students, faculty and staff as they return to class for the 2021 Spring Semester. Located between Plaza Verde, the CAF and the Pavilion, members of the ASU community can schedule a contactless appointment with a QR code located at the kiosk or schedule an appointment online on the ASU COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Updates website. Andre Nunley dribbles up court in a game that resulted in a close loss to LCU ASU Men’s Basketball on Jan. 14 welcomed the No. 22 Lubbock Christian Chaparrals Thursday night and then headed to the Rip Griffin Center in Lubbock, Texas on Jan. 16 for the second game. In the first interdivisional action of the season, the Rams ended the weekend falling to the Chaparrals 87-69 on Thursday night and got edged out 69-66 on Saturday. In Thursday s game between the two teams, Lubbock Christian had a big first half which set the tone for the remainder of the game. Lubbock Christian shot 57.9% from the field while ASU shot 47.2%. Junior Sam Baker was the Rams’ leading scorer with 17 points to go with a rebound and a steal. Senior Paul Williams would follow that with 14 points of his own to go with three rebounds, an assist and a steal of his own. Senior Burone Edwards was the Rams third-leading scorer in this game with 10 points and also added two rebounds and a block. ....
