THE family of a man who was a pillar of the community in Askam have paid tribute to him after his sudden death. Matthew Graham had been a well-known figure in the area since arriving in 1988 from Port Glasgow with his wife Aileen and children Dawn, Gemma, and Myles. The 75-year-old died on July 7 at his home on Duddon Road. “He was a big community man and was involved in a lot of different things in the area,” his daughter Dawn Brown said. “He was an all-round sportsman and was involved in golf and mini rugby, as well as being chairman of the local community centre and even helped to build the bowling green. ....
