Assemblywoman Janet Nguyen’s bill, AB 1336 to create regionalized task forces to address hate crimes, passed the Assembly Public Safety Committee unanimously last week. Hate crimes have gone up at alarming rates during the past year. There have been over 1600 hate related crimes reported nationwide. On Thursday morning, Santa Clarita Assemblywoman Suzette Martinez Valladares’ bill aimed to prevent wildfires passed through the Assembly floor and is now on it’s way to the Senate.  The California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) requires a lead agency to prepare and certify an environmental impact report on a project that it proposes to carry out.
