AN ASTEROID longer than four double-decker busses is set to swing by our planet, NASA has revealed, and the space agency has shown that the monster rock will fly by Earth at more than 59,000 kilometres an hour.

While it may seem like a non-threatening distance, it is close enough for NASA to determine it to be a Near Earth Object (NEO).
