Daniel Hutchens, co-founder of Athens band Bloodkin, dies at 56
Daniel Hutchens, who with his musical partner and lifelong friend Eric Carter helped define Athens music history with their band Bloodkin, died Saturday after suffering a stroke on Friday. He was 56. An West Virginia native, Hutchens (and his childhood friend Carter) spent parts of four decades in Athens and with Carter had recently released Bloodkin’s ninth album, “Black Market Tango,” the band’s first release since 2009’s “Baby, They Told Us We Would Rise Again.” Bloodkin’s first album, “Good Luck Charm” came out in 1994.
