The Competition Commission has found a third company guilty of price gauging when they supplied hand sanitisers to the South African Police Service during the Covid-19 pandemic.

Hand sanitiser rip-off companies slapped with hefty fine

Two companies found to have excessively overcharged the SAPS for hand sanitiser to the tune of R9.8m at the height of the Covid-19 crisis have been brought to justice.

Hand sanitiser supplier the latest to be fined for SAPS price gouging

The tribunal received complaints from the SAPS about the conduct of suppliers in relation to the procurement of personal protective equipment. It launched an investigation which found that BlueCollar had supplied the SAPS with hand sanitiser that had been marked up 123%.
