Clarifying compliance with IFRIC agenda decisions

The 2020 update of the IFRS Due Process Handbook clarifies the role of IFRIC agenda decisions within the IFRS framework. Here are the facts accountants need to know.

The nature of agenda decisions produced by the International Financial Reporting Standards Interpretations Committee (IFRIC) has been clarified in the IFRS Due Process handbook.
In April 2019, the IFRS Foundation proposed changes to the previous wording that referred to agenda decisions as “helpful, informative and persuasive” as there was some concern that this wording may have caused confusion as to the applicability of IFRIC agenda decisions when preparing IFRS based financial statements. ....

Rajasthan: Auditing of village co-ops to be over by Jan 31

A campaign has been started to make the cooperative movement stronger in Rajasthan through ensuring audit of the accounts of village service cooperative societies to enable them to obtain loans from banks. This would continue up to the close of January, reports Hindu.
Cooperatives Registrar Muktanand Agrawal said cases of loans being given to cooperative societies without the completion of audit had come to light. The move is expected is to make financial transactions transparent.
The cooperative registrar said strict action would be taken against erring village cooperative societies under the Rajasthan Cooperative Societies Act, 2001. ....

Replying to questions during the Question Hour in the Kerala Assembly, the Finance Minister said that some people were disturbed by the growth the state is going to make with the funding from KIIFB.
There was C&AG audit of KIIFB earlier too. The government is not against any auditing. But a constitutional body like C&AG shouldn t try to defame KIIFB. This time, C&AG acted with mala fide intention. Some people are unable to accept the growth Kerala is trying to make with funding from KIIFB, said Isaac replying to a question in the state assembly. ....

Singapore Ex tightens audit rules for listed firms after market criticism

SINGAPORE (Reuters) - Singapore Exchange s regulatory unit will tighten requirements for listed company auditors and raise standards on valuation reports, introducing a regulatory code of conduct for auditors.
In a statement released on Tuesday, Singapore Exchange Regulation (SGX RegCo) Chief Executive Tan Boon Gin said the changes enhance the standards required of auditors and property valuers in their dealings with listed companies.
We expect the quality of the market and investor protection to improve as a result, Tan said.
The moves, effective from Feb. 12, follow market criticism faced by SGX RegCo, the city-state s frontline capital markets regulator, over its handling of accounting irregularities at some listed firms. ....
