Printing Process: Digital printing, Screen printing An Inspiring Thistle Blossom on Blush Wine Blush by Varna Winery is an exotic rose wine produced from Pinot Noir grapes. The wine has very unique alluring rose color where the name “Blush” came from. This new design is actually a redesign of the old one which was made by me again some 10 years ago. Both are based on same thistle image which looks quite attractive on the label with its vivid colors and selective high build varnish I used on the blossom. It makes the colors even richer and adds very authentic 3D effect.

The Project My story with Colloca started many years ago when the winery opened doors. Together with Chris Colloca we created the winery logo and their first label. Eventually our partnership evolved into a remote friendship until nowadays. One day I received a call from Chris because he wanted to restyle the existing labels and lift them at a higher level. He also had certain idea about it. We discussed it in details and after I got all info from him, I started working on this project.

Behind the Curtain I personally liked the old design and I still do. When we first opened the discussion with the winery team I was much surprised about their decision to change it and I somehow tried to convince them that it wasn’t really necessary to do so. They were deeply decided for a change and this made the whole project for wine label restyle even more difficult as I was expected to change existing design which actually looked great for me – yes, maybe a bit ordinary, maybe lacking some more attention to detail, but it t was a good one anyway.
