Judge says it effectively allows Aurora and its police to discriminate against certain groups.

Aurora Pride officials say they are moving forward with planning for the fourth annual Pride Parade in June after a federal judge Thursday granted a preliminary injunction in connection with a lawsuit filed by the Pride group against the city.

During a hearing this week on a lawsuit concerning Aurora’s Pride Parade, attorneys for the city asked local Pride leaders if they might host a stationary event at Wilder Park this year instead of a parade, a proposal Pride officials said they do not support.

The Aurora City Council Tuesday night adopted 51 pages of new language for its ordinance covering special events in the city, a day after the city filed its response to the federal lawsuit brought by Aurora Pride against Aurora’s rules for events.

The organizers of the Aurora Pride Parade are suing the city, saying it violated the group's First Amendment rights when it first canceled the 2022 parade, then charged organizers twice as much as they expected for police security.
