DTI reminds CL establishments to comply with Price Freeze

CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga, May 19 (PIA) Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) reminds establishments in Central Luzon, particularly groceries and supermarkets, to comply with the Price Freeze on basic goods.
An Automatic Price Control is being implemented after President Rodrigo Duterte signed Presidential Proclamation 1143, declaring a nationwide state of calamity due to the spread of the African Swine Fever (ASF) in 2,571 barangays throughout the country.
The ASF, according to the declaration, adversely affected the local hog industry and the supply and prices of pork in the local market. ....

Government asked to regulate prices of fish products

THE national fishers’ group Pambansang Lakas ng Kilusang Mamamalakaya ng Pilipinas (Pamalakaya) is asking for government intervention in a form of price control over skyrocketing prices of fish, particularly galunggong (round scad), which now costs an average of P250/kilogram in the market.
“Galunggong is no longer a poor man’s fish with its average retail price of P250 per kilogram (kg),” Fernando Hicap, Pamalakaya national chairperson said.
The fishers’ group decried that while galunggong farm gate price on small producers is very low, the fish product passes through around four to five middlemen or private consignation, who secure their profits by marking up and eventually pushes up the retail price in the market. ....
