Sydney man sentenced for breaching UN sanctions
A 62-year-old man has been sentenced to three years and six months imprisonment for brokering the sale of missile parts, as well as coal and other commodities, in contravention of Australian and United Nations sanctions.
The man was arrested following an extensive investigation by the AFP which uncovered evidence the man was acting as an economic agent of North Korea, generating income for the Government through his facilitation of various commodities to and from North Korea.
Operation Byahaut began in early 2017 when the man from Eastwood, NSW, was identified as a person of interest to the AFP. He was arrested by the AFP on 16 December 2017. ....
