Brenda Kay Ruzic 63, of Oliver WI, passed away at Essentia Health Duluth peacefully on October 5th surrounded by her family. She was born in Bismark North Dakota on Octobe1959 to John and Teressa Branley. She met the love of her life Jerry while being a server at Bucko’s Bar in Gary New Duluth. They were married on January 13th, 1984. Brenda, known as “babes” and Jerry known as “buds” were married for 30 years before his passing in 2013. In May of 1988 she welcomed their only child Jeremy who was the light of her life.

Daniel Joel Lane, 55, of Duluth, passed away unexpectedly on Monday, January 30, 2023, at St. Luke’s Hospital. He was born on February 18, 1967, to Beth and John Lane. Dan was raised in Duluth graduating from Duluth East High School in 1985 and the University of St. Thomas in 1995. He married Christa Gulland on June 30, 2007. Dan worked in the Pharmaceutical Industry for over 20 years, most recently in Long Term Care, an area he was very passionate about.

Joan A. Smith, age 82, of Duluth, MN, died on February 25, 2022. Her death brought a peaceful end to a 20 year battle of debilitating pain due to arthritis. Joan was born in Duluth on May 30, 1939 to Emmett and Mildred Thorson. She grew up in Duluth where she met the love of her life, Richard Smith. They were wed in 1962 and raised their own children along with many foster children. She attended Duluth Business University for bookkeeping.
