You look at the earth with no political borders. we re all part of the same team together, team earth. i think it encourages people to take care of the planet and cooperate more. but there are other reasons why we go into space. the science that we do, the exploration, the inspiration. all of those things that are important today but eventually we re going to be able to use this technology to do things like traveling from los angeles to australia and just a matter of, you know, 30, 45 minutes versus what it currently takes. so i think it will improve transportation capabilities around the world at some point. but we get so many things from our space program and it is great to see us continuing to press the boundaries of what is humanly possible and now doing it how axiom is doing with it spacex with these private groups. and what do you make of ....

Jim. and carlos, tell us what is next for the mission. reporter: yeah, so it is our understanding that it is going to take them about 15 to 16 hours to get to the international space station. and once they are there, they re going to link up with a crew already there and then they start the process of getting all of this work done. again, we re looking at about 20 experiments over the next eight days. that is assuming that nothing goes wrong and that they re able to carry out this journey for this length of time. they re going to be doing a number of things while they re in space. we re talking about taking a look at a new communication system and technology which axiom said it is going to improve the lives of folks that will take part in space travel and as i mentioned, they re going to bek looking at cancer research when it comes to stem cells, the impact that micro gravity has on the production of stem cells. so, these folks are going to be quite busy as they enjoy space ....

About a 75% chance of a launch at 5:27 eastern standard time. the four member crew is scheduled to spend eight days aboard the international space station and they re going to perform a number of experiments, including taking a look at the effects of microgravity on the production of stem cells. as you mentioned, this private mission is only the second ever to the international space station. earlier this afternoon we were able to watch as the four member crusade good-bye to their family members. we re told that at this hour the four member crew is strapped into the space capsule and that they re going through their prelaunch checklist. now, aboard the axiom 2 space mission is peggy whitson, the commander of the space mission. she s a former nassau astronaut and a commander at the international space station. he s got a great deal of experience in space, having spent 665 days in space. the mission pilot is john ....
