Florida International University s Chaplin School of Hospitality & Tourism Management appoints hospitality alumnus John McKibbon ’75 as Chair of the Dean’s Executive Advisory Board (EAB) with fellow alumna, Norma Becker ’82 as Vice Chair. In addition, it welcomes a new board member, Matias Pesce, MSF ’18, CEO of Vida & Estilo, a Miami and Las Vegas-based restaurant and hotel hospitality group. The trio and 18 other board members will continue to advise Michael Cheng, dean of the Chaplin School, and support the top 8 ranked hospitality school s mission to educate future hospitality leaders. ....

Casa de Amparo will host its first-ever virtual 24th Annual Meet the Chefs event on Sunday, April 18, 2021. Historically, this exquisite culinary experience treats over 300 guests to sample signature dishes from over a dozen premier restaurants and chefs in San Diego, complemented by an extensive selection of wines and champagne. This year will look slightly different but the experience will still lend an enjoyable afternoon of gourmet appetizers, premium wine, desserts and more. The popular event annually raises over $125,000, which directly benefits Casa de Amparo’s programs that service foster youth in San Diego County. ....
