The Overland Park City Council turned a pilot program for backyard chickens into a permanent law, which takes effect Jan. 1, 2024.
“Knowing how to do it right and humanely is why I’m here,” said one participant.
"Hens are really quiet. The decibel level of a hen is less loud than my voice, so it's about human conversation level," Christensen said.
“I have zero health concerns about my capabilities as a responsible adult and parent to keep my child safe from any chicken diseases,” says a supporter of the proposal.
