Police identified the slain suspect as a certain “Popoy,” of legal age. Investigation showed that elements of the Baseco Police Station conducted a buy-bust operation against Popoy at around 2:50 a.m. A poseur buyer reportedly bought a sachet of suspected shabu worth P500 from the suspect. When Popoy noticed the approaching police officers, he allegedly fired at them. The suspect sustained injuries and was brought to Gat Andres Bonifacio Memorial Medical Center where he died..
