Was overallocated to the lower basin states, arizona, california. there s been this tension with colorado, utah, wyoming, the upper basin states where all that snow pack has been diminishing. that was the water table for the western united states and now it s gone. we re in the 23rd year of this worst drought in 1,200 years now and so now what the government, federal government and those water managers are saying, it is everybody, incumbent on everybody, the tribes, farmers, city dwellers, to conserve in ways they never have before. in nevada, they ve been paying people to rip up their lawns. the governor of california last week was in front of a desalination plant. he s talking about doubling down on desalination, trying to harvest storm water that s coming in the rivers. if you could catch that water, store it, that could help through the drought as well. there s a ton of ideas, even ....

Water consumption with nevada, arizona, and even the country of mexico needing to cut back the most. experts say this, even though drastic, will not be enough to tackle the ongoing mega drought which is of course made worse by the climate crisis. cnn s bill weir reports now from lake mead. whiskey and for drinking. water is for fighting. that supposed mark twain quote has been a western slogan since the first settlers, but now the worst drought in 1200 years has water managers in seven states, 30 tribal nations, and mexico fighting over every precious drop. to date, the states collectively have not identified and adopted specific actions of sufficient magnitude that would stabilize the system. that was the commissioner in charge of dams and reservoirs admitting that upper and lower basin states have failed to agree on ways to cut their water use by up to 25%. ....

Continue to talk to each other. but there is a round of automatic cuts that will kick in, tier 2 a they re called. it receded so low now that arizona will will see another 21% of their water supply cut. this is a place where alfalfa and cotton farmers are getting paid to let the fields go fall low this year because of the water cuts. nevada will see an 8% cut. mexico, 7% cut. and was of some sort of fudgy math, because of a lot of water that was left up in lake powell and didn t come down to meade, they re counting it as if it were in meade and as a result of that accounting, california will not have to do its first mandatory cuts this coming year. there was some hope in the upper basin states that california, the lower basin users, the big cities, farmers, would start to cut more. that hasn t happened yet. but here we are, victor, allison, year 23 of a mega drought. there is no real relief in sight. and so the watch word of the future to live in the american ....
