THE return of a popular community running event has been delayed after many towns - including Basingstoke - failed to get landowner permission. Parkrun is a free, weekly 5k running event held in more than 2,000 locations in 22 countries across the world. The popular event was due to return on Saturday, June 5, after more than a year of cancellation due to the coronavirus pandemic. DOG owners in Basingstoke are being warned about park safety after a resident found needle-spiked sausage rolls in Stratton Park over the weekend. Tracy Hook, 43, from Buckskin, posted the warning on a community Facebook page after her son discovered the offending items on Saturday morning (May 1). The 17-year-old boy was walking along an alleway which connects the park to Cleveland Close, where he lives, when he spotted two sausage rolls "in plain sight", with several metal spikes sticking through them.
