A 20-year-old man told gardaí he was “just out for a spin” when he was stopped outside his 5km limit with two others in his car during the Covid lockdown.
But Cllr Stephen McKee wants action now to help them, including a footpath to Southgate. 'The area near Colpe roundabout is a danger,' he told a recent council meeting. 'There are a lot of houses on the Beamore Road and it is very unsafe. The gardai have been out with speed checks but there has been no long term difference. We need rumble strips or ramps,' he stated. Cllr Elaine McGinty said a plan was needed for the area.
