Mental health treatment: Law enforcement, civilians work together


Helping the county’s increasing population of people who are mentally ill is no small or simple task, which is why Bell County’s mental health deputies and civilian mental health providers are working toward enhancing their collaboration.
“The base of the cooperation between Bell County law enforcement and Central Counties Services lies in being in the right place at the right time,” said James Arnold, associate director of mental health at Central Counties Services, the state-contracted provider of mental health services in Bell and Coryell counties.

Community calls on KPD to arrest officer who shot Patrick Warren


Warren told the story in front of a group of protesters Saturday afternoon. Other protestors spoke, demanding more accountability from the Killeen Police Department. 
It could have been my dad. It could have been your brother. It could have been your neighbor, Sadale Johnson said. We want the police officer to be arrested first and foremost. All we are asking for is accountability for the police.
We are gathered here today with the community to bring change, to bring about accountability, said Bryan King, founder of Brothers Against Community Crimes (BACC).   We want peace, but we want accountability. We want to know that we can call on the authorities and know that our people are taken care of. I m not here to say who is right or who is wrong, but more than one person is affected by this.
