  The three state champions from Klemme High School will be inducted into the Belmond-Klemme Hall of Fame Tuesday, May 18. ââAll three of the KHS inductees were champion prep runners: Arthur Hoffman, Class of 1962; Murray Katter, Class of 1973, and Brad Groesbeck, Class of 1975. What is even more interesting about these athletic feats is that KHS never had a track. Athletes ran on streets or country roads, or in a field near the school. After the football field was installed, a track was chalked around the field every spring. ââArthur âArtâ Hoffman won the class C State Cross Country individual championship in the fall of 1961 with a time of 10:13.9. ....
  The first inductees into the Belmond-Klemme Hall of Fame are two undefeated football teams and three individual state champions. ââThe 1963 Bronco football team was the first team in school history to go undefeated while the 1964 team followed up with the same record. ââThe individual inductees are: ââ⢠Art Hoffman - cross country state champion with a time of 10:13.9 in 1961; ââ⢠Murray Katter - long jump state champion with a jump of 21â 1.75â in 1972; ââ⢠Brad Groesbeck - 440 yard state champion with a time of 50.7 seconds in 1975. ââThe B-K Hall of Fame selection committee was âthrilled with the quality of candidates nominated.â The committee passed a provision that grants automatic induction into the Hall of Fame to any future individual state champions. ....
